Partner Profile: Lane United FC

Lane United FC is a local semi-professional soccer team based in Eugene/Springfield Oregon. The Reds (as their fans affectionately call them) play in the Northwest division of the Premier Development League (PDL). The PDL is under the umbrella of the United Soccer Leagues (USL) and is the third tier of the MLS/USL/PDL pyramid, but is recognized as the “fourth rung” of the U.S. soccer ladder by the US Soccer Federation.

Founded in 2013, LUFC began its first PDL season in May of 2014. Currently, games are played at the Willamalane Center on 32nd Street in Springfield but the club is hopeful of moving to Civic Stadium Park for the 2017 season. After finishing its second season in 2015 and earning fifth place in the division, the club is very optimistic about the future and is looking forward to helping expand and shape the landscape of soccer in the Willamette Valley. Guided by Head Coach John Galas and Managing Director Dave Galas, LUFC has gained an incredibly supportive foundation of local fans and businesses who are excited about being a part of the future of soccer both in the Northwest, and the US as a whole.

LUFC already has significant accolades earning the 2014 PDL Rookie Franchise of the Year, having striker Khiry Shelton taken second overall in the 2015 MLS Superdraft by New York City FC, defender Will Seymore being signed in the USL by Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 and, striker Timmy Mueller making the 2015 All-PDL team and being named the Young Player of the Year.

With so many exciting changes and developments occurring, fans and LUFC personnel alike are eager to continue setting ever-higher goals for the club. Here at ECA, we are excited to partner with LUFC and we can’t wait to host its games and welcome its fans at Civic. For more information, visit the Lane United website.
