ECA Set to Begin Construction in 2018

Rendering showing site plan for Eugene Civic ParkLast month, the ECA Board of Directors met to discuss plans for Civic Park in the coming year and to review our fundraising progress to-date. Thanks to an outpouring of support from the community, we have raised over $20 million for the Civic Park project. This is 57% of the total needed to build the entire facility, and remarkable progress in a short period of time.

The best news of all is that the board approved a plan to begin construction in 2018. To keep the Civic Park project on track with its timeline and the City permitting process, the board decided to construct the facility in two phases, with the first phase of construction beginning later this year.

This approach will take advantage of our initial fundraising success and allow KIDSPORTS and other users of the facility to access the fields and courts sooner than if the project was built all at once.

Phase 1 will include the KIDSPORTS Fieldhouse, parking lots, turf field, and 1,000 bleacher seats. We have raised an amazing 75% of the total needed to build Phase 1 and are confident that we will reach the 80% target by groundbreaking. The second phase will build out the stadium, which will include 1,500 additional seats, more bathrooms and amenities.

We are excited to move forward and see the project develop. Stay tuned for more information about the groundbreaking event. As the date gets closer, we plan to invite the entire community to come and celebrate the groundbreaking with us. Thank you to everyone who has supported the project thus far. Because of you, we are confident that Civic Park will carry on the legacy of Civic Stadium as a thriving part of our community.
