ECA Announces Architects for Civic Park

ECA is excited to announce the selection of the architectural team who will design the new Civic Park project! Robertson/Sherwood Architects pc, of Eugene, and Skylab Architecture, of Portland, will be partnering to create a design for the new facility. Robertson/Sherwood will be the Architect of Record while Skylab Architecture will be Design Architect on the project.

Four strong proposals were received from local architects in response to ECA’s formal request for qualifications. “Both of these firms have a lot of experience designing recreation facilities,” said Carole Knapel, ECA project manager “and they stood out because they have taken to heart our vision: to create a lively hub for our community and a place for everyone to get out and play.”

The architects have already initiated work on Phase I, which will help ECA re-imagine how to make the best use of the Civic space for the Kidsports Fieldhouse, the turf field and 2,500-seat stadium. This scope and programming process will take 3-4 months and will cost approximately $225,000. “We are excited to get the design process started,” said Knapel. Since our previous plans for the stadium were rendered ineffective by the fire, the process will also help us visualize the overall look of the facility and define a revised budget for Phase II—the detailed design and construction of the facilities and fields.

We are excited to take this important step forward in realizing our plans for Civic Park and we can’t wait to share the designs for the facility with you once they are completed. Check back here for updates throughout the design and construction process.
