The reimagined Civic Park will be a venue for community sports and recreation that honors the site’s history while providing 21st century solutions to the consequences of inactive lifestyles. ECA’s goal is to improve the health and fitness of children in Eugene by first addressing the need for adequate fields and courts. The facility will also host tournaments, special events, and minor league soccer. The new design includes a larger fieldhouse for Kidsports, a multipurpose field, and 2,500-seat grandstand.

The need for a new design and budget arose after fire destroyed the historic Civic Stadium grandstand on June 29, 2015. Robertson/Sherwood Architecture, Skylab Architecture and the contractor, Chambers Construction, began creating the new designs in March, 2016.

Currently, Greg Payne Construction is finishing the demolition of the bus barn and shop. The steel piles have been removed. The historic scoreboard, and timbers from the grandstand have been stored for safekeeping until construction is complete.
