OCF Aims to Complete Civic Park Phase 1 Fundraising

If you drive by Civic Park in South Eugene, you’ll notice the building is up, the turf if laid down and children are playing. During the pandemic, Civic opened its doors to provide the community with a space to stay active while maintaining social distancing and abiding by all other state COVID-19 guidelines.

However, there is still work to be done to complete Civic Park. The newly built facility is a multimillion-dollar project, split into two phases.

Phase 1 includes the Kidsports Fieldhouse at Civic Park and ECA’s outdoor turf field. The partnership and facility spaces will allow Kidsports to expand their current youth sports offerings and launch new programs for people of all ages. Features include:

  • 4 Hardwood Multi-Sport Courts
  • 2 Outdoor Courts
  • Locker Rooms
  • Equipment Room
  • Meeting & Event Spaces
  • Elevated Seating

ECA’s outdoor sports complex will host a wide range of sports and community events once completed and COVID-safe. Field features of the first phase of construction include:

  • A FIFA regulation-size synthetic turf field
  • Flexible asphalt activity area
  • Ticketbooth and Heritage Wall
  • Pocket Park and Rain Garden

The second phase of construction includes upgrades of the outdoor sports complex. Features include:

  • Increased main entry gate
  • 2,500-seat grandstand
  • Broadcast booth
  • Upper concourse with additional bathrooms and food court
  • Large digital scoreboard

To help ECA complete construction of the first phase of Civic Park, the McKenzie Oaks Ranch Fund of Oregon Community Foundation gifted Eugene Civic Alliance with a $1 million challenge grant! The Fund will match $1 for every $2 donated through December 31, 2020.

“We are grateful to the advised fund donors for their generosity and their confidence in our ability to meet this challenge,” said Jon Anderson, President of ECA’s Board of Directors.

We believe this challenge grant will push us across the finish line!

Other major donors to the campaign for Civic Park are Market of Choice, Inc., Chambers Family Foundation, PacificSource Health Plans, Oregon Community Credit Union, Slocum, Giustina Foundation, and Clarion Partners, LLC.

We are thankful for all who have supported us and invite you all to take a tour of Civic Park!
