Red Aces Maximize Donations Through OCF Challenge
December 28, 2016
Last week, Lane United FC supporter group, the Red Aces, presented a check to ECA for $600 as part of the OCF Challenge fundraiser. The money was raised through the sale of Civic Memorial Scarves by the Red Aces. The scarves began as membership scarves for Red Aces members and were customized to include a special commemorative patch for Civic Stadium.
The Red Aces presented the check in traditional Red Aces style, as a custom-made large scale banner. “To mark this special occasion, the Red Aces wanted to make a unique symbol, so the giant check was created in the same spirit and love that we use to produce our awesome tifo artwork to show our love for the soccer club” said Red Aces President, Adam Smith. “The Red Aces have been involved in the Civic effort since 2013 when the fate of the property was still up in the air. We began by organizing marches to raise awareness and fight for the property.”
Since 2013, the Red Aces have attended City Council and 4J School Board meetings, worked with the former Save Civic organization, and painted murals at the Civic site to promote the creation of a new sports and recreation facility – Civic Park. Now, as the OCF Challenge enters its final week, the Red Aces decided to take advantage of the opportunity to double the size of their donation. “When the OCF matching challenge was announced this season, it seemed the perfect time to take our contribution and make an even bigger impact with the matching grant” said Smith.
We are grateful to all of the Red Aces for their untiring dedication to promoting the Civic Park project. We know that with the continued support of our community, we can make our dreams for Civic Park a reality!
