Demolition Underway at Civic

cutterOver the past few weeks, crews from Greg Payne Construction have been working at Civic to complete the demolition of the bus barn and shop. The last remnants of Civic buildings, light poles, and large steel piles have all been removed. The historic scoreboard has been taken down and stored for safekeeping during the construction process.

Prior to removing the steel, the ECA arts committee met with local metalworkers to assess whether the steel could be repurposed. Several artists tagged steel pieces to be reused in their projects.

After demolition is completed, the site will be prepared for winter. Phase 2 of the Civic project, which includes the creation of detailed construction documents and budgets, begins now. Our Design and Construction team expects that this process will take 9 to 10 months.
