Clean-up Begins at Civic Stadium

On Monday, August 3, Belfor Environmental, a national company specializing in property restoration, began removing debris created during the June 29 fire. The project is expected to take several weeks.

The Eugene Civic Alliance has received requests from people who wish to have part of the stadium — whether charred wood, nails or other items — as mementos. Unfortunately this is not possible at this time. Small amounts of hazardous material are in the debris and must be contained and disposed of carefully. However, the Belfor team will set aside some materials to be cleaned for possible future use by ECA as commemorative items.

Work continues on new design plans. The design is expected to be similar to the original plan: a new fieldhouse for Kidsports, a turf field and a grandstand. ECA will be developing the site in stages.

The ECA will keep the public informed of progress as the project continues.
